TW Jackson is the mastermind behind the book The Magic of Making Up. Living most of his life as part of the USA military, he was forced to travel all over the country - and the whole world, for that matter - and come into contact with a great variety of people. 

As far as having friends go, there were only two options for him: 

1) Sit and sulk in a corner because of all these new strangers, OR 

2) Learn to get along with everybody from all flavours of life. 

He chose number 2. 

It came to a stage in his life where he could be drinking sake with one of his friends in Tokyo, or he could be out fishing with one of his friends from the countryside of Arkansas.  

He became completely adaptable to almost all social environments, observing the culture he just stepped into, only to blend in seamlessly a few minutes later. He became masterful at reading body language and soon his friends were banging down the door to ask him for help. 

He became the “go to” guy if his friends had any social problems, be it a lady friend who wanted advice about a guy she met or one of his buddies who was having trouble with his girlfriend. 

And lo and behold, the more they came to him with their problems, the better he got at solving it. He was getting new couples together left and right, but what really made his advice unique was how he was able to mend broken relationships.
